Ingleton Parish Council is a group of local Councillors who are either elected by the local residents in a four year cycle or co-opted during the four year intervals if a vacancy came up between the elections.

The Parish Council has a Chairman and a Vice Chairman plus a Parish Clerk as the three main officials.  The Clerk is also the Responsible Finance Officer for the Council.

Other Parish Councillors can lead, or be a part of, sub groups within the Parish Council in order to work on specific areas covered by the Council remit and report back to Council meetings.  Individual Councillors can be affiliated to other organisations to provide a working liaison between the two groups for the good of the community as a whole.

The Parish Council duties include:-

  • Management of the recreation ground, Pavilion building and facilities and specific land within the Parish.
  • Review and comment on planning applications within the Parish.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities regarding infrastructure / policing / community issues to represent your views and get the best advantage for the local area.
  • Engage with all interested parties regarding current and future shape of life in the local area.
