Ingleton originally had its own cricket team and many years ago they played on a pitch behind the Black Horse public house on the northern side of the village.
This location was subsequently moved to the Playing Field on the southern side of the village when the Parish Council purchased the land from the Durham County Council. In 2005/6 grants were received to renovate the old farm building and create the new Cricket Pavilion we see today. This was completed and opened officially in July 2006. (See Cricket Pavilion page article and pictures)
Ingleton Cricket team disbanded in 2010 due to problems with membership numbers and becoming unsustainable.
In September 2017 the King James Cricket Club (KCC) expressed an interest to use the facilities and over the 2018 period all the arrangements and pitch preparation were undertaken. A Cricket Club Working Group (CCWG) was formed within the IPC and with KCC members to work together.
Matches started in the Spring of 2019 and have continued, even despite some disruption in early 2020 and 2021 due to coronavirus causing some matches to be abandoned.

Re: Cricket in 2024
KING JAMES CRICKET TEAM:-
The season has now drawn to a close with the sad news that the King James CC had to disband due to a reduction of members and being unable to field full teams on occasion. They have put us in touch with the Raby CC with a view to using our facilities for which we are very grateful.
RABY CRICKET CLUB 2025
They have viewed the facilities and had a general appraisal of the provisions provided to discuss and explore the use of our cricket field for the future year(s) for matches and training sessions if possible. They have decided not to use our facilities for the 2025 season however they will review this option for the 2026 season.
When more information becomes available we will update the website & put notices in the noticeboard / cricket pavilion window(s).
BLACK HORSE / INGLETON TEAM 2025
A new initiative arranged by Paul Humble has started to gather momentum with enough members to make two sides to play a match on Sunday 25th May or Monday 26th May 2025. They had a week of practice leading up to the planned match.
If this is a success they plan to hold another match later in the year, maybe up to four matches spaced over the year.
If enough interest is created and younger members are tempted to join they would like to field a full Ingleton team again
ETHERLY CRICKET INTEREST 2025
A group of players from Etherly and around about approached the Ingleton Parish Council to hire the facilities on Wednesday evenings to conduct practices. They only had about ten members but hoped to attract local young members to practice and join them. They were willing to form a team for Ingleton if things worked out for them.
There was a problem with a Groundsman overload trying to support two groups using the pitch therefore we had to state that this arrangement would not be possible unless they could find a Groundsman to share the workload, this they could not do in the immediate future so have pulled out.
